Avene Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum Review

Hey guys!
So today's review is about a serum from 'Avene'.
Well, I'm not really happy talking about it but I have to share with you guys what happened to my skin when I used this product.

I've heard a lot of beauty youtubers raving about this product. I ran out of the serum I was using previously so I bought this to try since so many people like it. That's when the nightmares started. I didn't expect the result to turned out like this. I would have to apologise first to those who loves this brand/product. I'm not bashing this brand/product by any means. This is just my personal thoughts and opinions.

Encapsulate and carry the Avène Thermal Spring Water to the core of the skin cells*
3D HYDROPHILIC MATRIX
Adjusts the hydration level at the surface of the skin
HIGH CONCENTRATION OF AVÈNE THERMAL SPRING WATER (77%)
Calms sensations of discomfort.
* The upper layers of the skin

Avene Aqua, Methyl Gluceth-20, PEG-12, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol Ceteth-3 Acetate, Aqua, Polyacrylamide, Alcohol, Benzoic Acid, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Parfum, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Laureth-7, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Phospholipids, Sodium Acetate, Sodium DNA, Tetrasodium EDTA

Application/how to use: apply a few drops of the serum morning and evening after carefully cleansing your face. Then apply your daily skin cream.

Would I recommend to others: no

Personal experience using it: I'm gonna get straight to the point and not waste you guys' time. I got an allergic reaction from using this serum. Initially, I didn't thought that this serum was the culprit until I stopped using it. I've only used it for about 4 days and at first, my skin grew tiny little allergy bumps and then it spreaded to my entire face except forehead. I started to feel panick because I wasn't eating anything that would cause me any allergic reaction nor change my skincare products as well except for this serum. So I stopped using it and my face wasn't red and itchy anymore. My skin actually burns when I apply this serum onto my skin but I didn't really care about it because Avene is a brand made for sensitive skin so obviously I would not relate my allergy to this serum. I've used Avene products in the past and don't really have much love for it but they never cause me any allergic reactions until I've came across this serum.

After doing some research on this serum, I found out that some people breakout from using this serum and I've heard a lot of dermatologists said that Avene uses very cheap ingredients in their products but yet their price is considered quite high for an affordable brand. Some people always complained that high end skincare is too expensive, some drugstore skincare does the same thing as high end skincare does, blah blah blah. But actually do you know that ingredients can be divided to high end ingredients and cheaper ingredients. Both may do the same thing but the level of safeness, abrasiveness, gentleness, etc. when you put on your skin is different.  Some people get reactions when they use drugstore skincare, whereas when they use high end skincare which has similar functions to the drugstore skincare, they won't get any reaction. So this means that choosing good and gentle ingredients is very important especially if you have sensitive skin like me. But I'm not saying that all drugstore skincare is bad. I still use some drugstore skincare and it works fine on my skin. You just have to look out for the ingredients.

But I really think that Avene should improve their ingredients because there is alcohol and fragrance in it as well as some ingredients that will cause allergic reactions to some people. Since you are supposed to be a brand that even the most sensitive people can use, why not start looking into good and gentle ingredients instead of controlling your budget by using cheap ingredients and take risk on your consumer's skin after using it. I really felt disappointed by Avene because I have such high hopes for it since a lot of youtubers raved about this product. Also, I noticed that dermatologists don't really recommend to use this brand when you are having allergic reactions. I have been to quite a few number of dermatologists and none of them recommended this brand at all. But if your dermatologist does recommend this brand and your skin loves it, then good for you. But this brand is no go for me. I'm very sorry Avene, but I won't try any of your products anymore because I just can't risk it anymore.

Would I repurchase: absolutely no!
