Welcome to my blog!=)
So this week's review is all about this affordable, cheap, drugstore toner.
I have to be honest here. I didn't really notice the ingredients before purchasing it. I just grab and go because I've tried their 'Rosewater Organic Toner' and it's alcohol-free so I thought this is alcohol-free as well since they are from the same brand. But unfortunately, it's not. If you want to see more detailed review on the other toner and also more products reviews from the brand, 'Botanics' then on the side bar you'll see there's a section called 'labels' and click on the drop down menu and choose 'Botanics', it will show you all the products I've reviewed for that brand OR just type 'Botanics' on the search bar, it's the first section on the side bar. My requirements for buying a toner is very simple, it has to be alcohol-free and that's it! That's all I want!
Claims:
This revitalising toner helps visibly tighten pores and instantly brighten skin. Skin is left feeling fresher and prepared for moisturising. Hibiscus is nature's brightness booster and a wonderful hue of pink. Natural AHA's from the flower act as mild exfoliators to help leave skin smoother and brighter.
Ingredients:
Aqua(Water), Alcohol denat., Butylene glycol, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Hibiscus sabdariffa flower extract, Sodium benzoate, Quillaja saponaria bark extract, Sodium citrate, Benzoic acid, Dehydroacetic acid, Ethylhexylglycerin.
Skin types: All skin types
Rate: 5.5/10
Consistency/texture: orangy-browny-yellowy liquid (clearly I'm not good at identifying color)
Smell/scent: alcohol-scent
Feel: soothing on skin and sinks into your skin really fast
Application/how to use: moisten cotton wool pad and sweep over face and neck after cleansing
How often do you use: every day and night
Effectiveness: average product
Whole product lasted how long: about 4 months
Would you recommend to others: no
Personal experience using it: I won't recommend to anyone because it contains alcohol and will dries out your skin so those who have dry skin isn't suitable. It has AHA which is a natural exfoliant so it will actually help exfoliate slightly. It is good at cleansing residues left on your skin. You might think that it will help with blackheads but it doesn't. No help at all for the blackhead area. I have dry skin and it's not hydrating enough for my skin. I still feel a little tight after using it. It's nice as a prepping step for your moisturiser. It's not a magical product even though it has AHA in it, I still do suffer from breakouts and bumps under skin so do not ever think that products that contain AHA will clear your skin. Probably the AHA in it is not as strong as well.
Would you repurchase: no way!
Product value/price: €5.99
Where I bought mine: local Boots store
Links for further information: Boots Ireland website (€5.99)
**If you want to try it, don't ever buy it in full price. Boots always have offers going on like buy 1 get 2nd half price or 3 for 2 sale, so wait for them then get it so it'll save you some money.
