Dentek Maximum Protection Dental Guard Review

Hey guys!=)
So today's review is pretty random but very useful if you're looking for a night guard for teeth grinding.

I grind my teeth every single night and sometimes it gets worst especially during exam periods because of stress.
Other days, I grind my teeth slightly but I still grind every single night though.
So one day, my roommate told me that I grind my teeth so loud that even when she's wearing her headphones watching dramas, she could hear it very clearly.
So I took notice of that and immediately googled how to prevent grinding my teeth furthermore.
And I came across a website saying that there's different types of night guard.
Different from price range, availability, accessibility, etc.
Basically you can either get a custom-fitted night guard from your dentist which probably costs a lot more or get one at the drugstore and DIY it at home.
So of course I go for the cheaper one because I've spend enough money on my teeth and I don't want to spend any more if there's a cheaper one.
So I got the one that I'm about to review today.

So it came with a forming tray, dental guard and storage case.
The above picture shows the forming tray and dental guard.
It's a DIY night guard that requires you to do a lot of procedures to form your perfect "custom-fitted" night guard without going to the dentist and costs a lot cheaper as well.
The costs for this whole kit is €34.99 at Boots Ireland.
It is supposed to be like a "custom-fitted" for you and it claims to be better than any other night guard from other brands.
So I decided to give it a go since it is the only option that I have because this is the only one that's available in Boots.
And I saw great reviews on Boots website as well.

But I must say, this is so so so bad!
I don't recommend this night guard at all!
I'm so sorry to say that but this just doesn't works at all!
I've wasted €35 for this S**T thing and I'm really really angry because you definitely cannot refund it except to accept the fact that you've wasted €35.
It doesn't fits properly and it takes so much procedures for just a night guard.
I followed the procedures one by one and I failed for the first time because mine didn't formed, so I took a second try because it stated there you can take up to 3 times of re-doing it.
So I took another try and I only successfully formed a little and only the back of teeth is "printed" on the dental guard.
My front teeth doesn't fits at all because every time when I bite down with my back teeth, the front part of the dental guard just float upwards and my front teeth couldn't get to bite.
This dental guard is supposed to be for your upper teeth and after the 2nd try, it's probably half success but I still wanna try it so I wear it at night and the next day I woke up, it's totally gone!
It dropped out of my mouth and how the hell does this happened?
It's because it doesn't fits at all.
The worst thing is that it is so hard to bite down the dental guard.
It takes a lot of strength and it hurts my teeth a lot!
I saw a little blood on my dental guard!
You can tell how hard it is that you have to bite this thing!

I should have not wasted €35 on this thing and straight go to my dentist because I went to my dentist for a custom-fitted night guard and it is x20000 times better than this night guard.
I know it's expensive to go to your dentist but c'mon guys, think that you're investing in something good for your future.
Teeth grinding will cause bruxism and it will cause a lot problems if you don't wear your night guard.
If you have to wear one, night guard takes time to get used to and if you're wearing a night guard that is uncomfortable, you won't get good sleep and may harm your teeth as well.
So I highly highly and only recommend going to your dentist to get a custom-fitted night guard.
Even though it costs way more, but I rather you guys to save up money and go to your dentist.

This is the blog post about 'My Custom-Fitted Night Guard Experience At The Dentist'.

PS: I'm not trying to bash this brand or this product. It's all my honest opinions. Tried, tested and review. And I did email them telling them what's wrong but they didn't bother to reply me at all. Maybe it works for some of you but it doesn't works on me.

  1. Hi, this helped a lot! I know this blog is about 5 years old-- but I've recently had some dental issues due to stress... and bought Dentek. This webpage was on the second page of google when I searched if Dentek was good or bad. Thank you so much!

I even went to my dentist and asked about this product, and he said he
"wouldn't recommend anything squishy. If there's anything that conforms to your teeth as much as possible while providing protection, that is the best night guard to get."

He said that the squishy night guards can cause more damage, because it doesn't stop the muscles from getting the "stop" signal. Which is what you're aiming for.

Thank you again! I'll keep searching for a better night guard.
