Nail Care Tips

1. Drink enough water each day to keep your body hydrated and to maintain healthy and strong nails.

2. Store your nail polish in the refrigerator to maintain its smooth consistency.

3. Never use your nails as tools, as you are more prone to break or chip them.

4. Never expose your nails to detergents or hash chemicals. Wear gloves to protect your nails.

5. Keep your nails nice and trimmed. Nails longer than 3 centimeters (about 1 inch) are more likely to carry bacteria and fungus.

6. Acrylics and other false nails usually carry more germs and bacteria than your natural nails.

7. Vitamin A and calcium deficiency can cause nail dryness and brittleness.

8. Fresh carrot juice is high in calcium and phosphorus. It is great for strengthening your nails.

9. Avoid using perfume lotions that contain alcohol if your nails are weak and brittle. You are more likely to break or chip them.

10. Nail polish is not harmful to your fingernails. It strengthens and beautifies your nails. Nail polish remover, however, is very drying.

11. For healthy nails, eat a diet of 50% fruits and raw vegetables, and drink plenty of water each day.

12. Sticking your fingernails in lemon halves for 5-7 minutes will help clean and brighten them immediately.

13. Mix iodine with olive oil and rub over fingernails to strengthen them and prevent flaking.
